Language Arts (Reading)
Read and interpret passages ranging from 300-400 words with content covering prose from various time periods. There is one poem and one piece of drama on every test form. (60 minutes)

Science
Answer questions on physical science, life science, and earth/space science with an emphasis on environmental and health topics relevant to everyday life. (80 minutes)

Language Arts (Writing)
PART I – Answer multiple choice items covering organization, sentence structure, usage and mechanics.
PART II – Write an essay on a given topic. (120 minutes)

Mathematics
Solve problems involving measurement, algebra, geometry, number relations, and data analysis.
PART I permits the use of a scientific calculator. (90 minutes)

Social Science
Answer questions from the subject areas of history, geography, civics, government, and economics. Test source materials include prose or visuals (i.e., maps, graphs, photographs) or a combination of prose and visuals. (70 minutes)


Individuals who are in need of test accommodations because of a disability
may apply for special testing at one of the G.E.D. test sites.
